Joey ten Berge got the first point for MariFlex by winning with 3 – 1 from Toon Greebe, after which Willy van de Wiel increased the lead to 2 – 0 and did not lose a leg to Jerry Hendriks. Gino Vos and Tony West managed to equalize the score by winning with 3 – 1 from Jimmy Hendrils and Jan Dekker.

With a half-time score of 2 – 2, several player took a break and the Dartfreakz Mini-tournament started. Here, the two Dartfreakz Awards winners in the category ‘Juniors’ came into action against Mariflex member Jimmy Hendriks and against Hemeco member Gino Vos, where the two last mentioned got a set of mini darts. The juniors, of course, played with their own arrows, due to which a fun battle emerged.

Kenzo Fernandes-Pereira beat Jimmy Hendriks in the semi-finals, who appearantly could throw a nice dart with the mini darts. Gino Vos did not seem to have any problems with the little darts as well, but Justin van Tergauw struck with the double 3 and so Van Tergouw and Fernandes-Pereira could get on stage for the finale once more. Which was won by Kenzo eventually, who, completely in style, received a mini trophy.

After the Dartfreakz Mini tournament, it was time for the first presentation of the first Dartfreakz Awards. The two gentlemen who shortly before had come in action, received their well-deserved Dartfreakz Awards from the hands of Jan Dekker and Tony West. Kenzo-Fernandes Pereira received the jury’s prize because of his results in 2011, in which he amongst other things, became the winner of the Dutch Open and became the Dutch ranking champion juniors in the same season. Justin van Tergauw got the public award which he had earned in the election with 356 votes.

Then it was time for another duel between MariFlex and Hemeco, where the couples were formed by Toon Greebe and Jerry Hendriks on behalf of the blue team and in red Joey ten Berge and Willy van de Wiel formed a couple and Jan Dekker and Jimmy Hendriks paired up. The first couple’s duel was played between Greebe/West and Ten Berge/Van de Wiel and with an exciting victory of 3 – 2 the victory went to the players in blue and Hemeco took the lead for the first time this evening. Hendriks/Dekker were able to equalize the balance by winning from Vos/Dero with 3 – 1. The couple that got the title of the Dutch Open couplestournament in 2009 then struck against Ten Berge/Van de Wiel with 3 – 2, but because Hendriks/Dekker for their part beat Greebe/West, the score was 4 – 4 again and the tournament remained very exciting.

All the gentlemen, except for Joey ten Berge, were able to mix in with the flocked crowd. Because it was time for a challenge by a visitor against a player of their choice. To the question from Marco Meijer if anybody wanted to play a game against a top player, a lot of people raised their hands, but the tiniest hand in the room was chosen to come forward to the stage. Kyana Frauenfelder got to choose a player and not completely unexpected, she chose to play Joey ten Berge. Those who were not known with this 8 year old talent would find out really fast, because at the moment she got a 130-finish the whole room got quiet by throwing a triple 20 and a single 20. Then she aimed for the bulls-eye and missed it narrowly, but she got a big round of applause by the crowd. In the rematch she still beat Joey ten Berge.

Then it was time for the next award ceremony of the Dartfreakz Awards. Jimmy Hendriks got the jury’s prize with the juniors, which he earned big time with his impressive list of performances. He for example won the World Cup in Ireland, the Europe Cup Youth in Scotland, the Winmau World Masters in England and then he became the Dutch Ranking Champion in his own country as well. Gino Vos got the public public award with the juniors with a Total of 388 votes which he got during the elections.

With the girls the jury’s prize went to Annet van Elten, because of her performances with a bronze medal at the Europe Cup Youth in Scotland, two bronze medals at the World Cup couplestournament in Scotland and the victory at the MariFlex Open. The public prize with the girls went to Kaylee de Priester with as much as 409 votes which she received during the elections.

The duel between Hemeco and MariFlex approached a climax, because after the single matches and the couple matches the scoreboard counted a 4 – 4 half-time score. The captainsgame would decide which team would get the Dartfreakz Awards Challenge Cup. In this captainsgame Tony West and Jan Dekker would take eachother on in a duel of a best of 9 legs. The Englishman knew to draw ahead to a 3 – 0 lead but Doubledekker knew to turn the game around and bent his arrears into a 4 – 3 lead. In the 8th leg, Tony West struck again with the double 16 and everything came down to the final leg. The tention was raised with bulling for the final leg, where the difference was made after only 6 throws and Tony West got to start the decisive leg. Despite this fact, it was Jan Dekker who took the victory and the challenge cup went to the MariFlex team after an exciting and sportmanlike game.

After this it was time for the awards ceremony of the Dartfreakz Awards with the seniors. As winner of the PDC Player Championship in Wigan and Vienna and as runner-up of the PDC Player Championship in Halle and Crawley, the jury’s prize went to Vincent van der Voort. The public prize went to Elmar Schiffmacher who received a Total of 271 votes during the elections. With the ladies the jury’s prize went to Karin Krappen with her performances amonst which a silver medal World Cup couples in Ireland, a bronze medal World Cup overall, Dutch Ranking Champion and runner-up of the Closed Netherlands. Petra Marcus was the lady who got the most votes in the girls category and therefore she got the public prize in this category. Finally the challenge cup of the Dartfreakz Awards was handed over to the MariFlex team with which a great night was closed.

On behalf of the editorial staff of Dartfreakz.nl and the organisation of the Dartfreakz Awards we would like to thank all the visitors, spectators and all present with which a couple in particular. Of course we would like to thank the players and coaches of the MariFlex and the Hemeco team for their presence and their effort and of course we thank and congratulate all Dartfreakz Awards winners. We would also like to say thanks to Marco Meijer for being the mastercaller all night and to John Lokken, Jacco Krook and Levy Frauenfelder who took care of writing.

We would also like to thank Gerry Walters on behalf of Datadart for putting the podium at our disposal and keeping scores on the big screens. Of course we would also like to thank Patrick, William and Anke Langenbach on behalve of d’n Beer for putting the room at our disposal and we thank the DJ for the music.

As an organisation we look back at a great evening which we would like to continue next year. You can find a video compilation here.

<![CDATA[The 6th edition of the MariFlex Open won by Adams and Hedman]]> urn:uuid:b82da195-b2a4-c364-0d38-486c65cdd447 2012-03-20 21:48:14 The weekend of the MariFlex Open has been played and so we can look back at a succesfull weekend.
At a little after 10:00 at the sports centre Vlaardingen the main item of the MariFlex Open, the mens single tournament started. A total of 364 players entered among which nearly all the world players. The new Lakeside World Professional Darts champions Christian Kist and Anastasia Dobromyslova were present in Vlaardingen as well and of course the players of the MariFlex Darts Team and a lot of talent from the Dutch and Belgian darts sport.

But just like on Saturday, the crowns of the main tournaments were claimed by two English players. The best player of the different couples tournaments on Saturday, Deta Hedman, was supreme today as well at the ladies tournament of 12:00. She reached the finals again where she went against the Russian Irina Armstrong. Irina only won one single leg in a best of 3 sets, best of 5 legs. That was the first leg of the game, after that Deta took control and won six legs in a row to finish in a 2 – 0 victory and the title plus a starting permit to participate in the Zuiderduin Masters which will be held in Egmond aan Zee in December. English team captain and multiple Lakeside World Champion, Martin Adams, got to the finals in Vlaardingen too. He played against fellow-countryman Stephen Bunting, who beat Christian Kist with 2 – 0 in the semi-finals. Stephen was able to make things tough for Marting for two sets. Two sets were played with 3 – 2 and 3 – 2 for Adams. In the third set Wolfie, Adams struck and he won the third and fourth leg in that set to win the title International MariFlex Darts Open Champion 2012. Just like Deta, Wolfie will receive a starting permit for the Zuiderduin Masters 2012. Early in the afternoon the boys and girls single tournaments started as well. Among the competitors there were a lot of youth aces from the Netherlands and Belgium and Germany as well. The girls finals were played by the Belgian Joyce Janssens and the Dutch Joyce Schuurman. The last one gave herself a hard time by almost giving away a 3 – 0 lead. She was only 1 leg away but let Janssens come back to 3 – 2. In time she managed to get the match on her side and won the sixth leg for her championship in Vlaardingen.

The boys-titel and starting permit for participation in the Zuiderduin Masters were won by Quin Wester. On paper Quin had a tough final to win against the strong Jeffrey de Zwaan. Quin had to allow Jeffrey to come back astonishingly from a 2 – 0 arrears. But Jeffrey had to keep coming back, because Quin got ahead every time. But in the eighth leg Jeffrey did not manage to do that and Quin scored the fifth pint for the title at the boys.

<![CDATA[Title at Isle of Man ‘extra special’ for O’Shea and Hendriks]]> urn:uuid:15f89ae5-fef1-344c-d49e-a3639d32f447 2012-03-20 21:03:03 Usually Tony O’Shea is a couple with Darry Fitton, but because the last mentioned skipped the Isle of Man of last weekend, Silverback found his luck with youth world champion Jimmy Hendriks. And look, the couple of the MariFlex Pro Darts Team was immediately accurate. “It is always fun to win a tournament, but this is extra special, because Jimmy and I were a couple for the first time”, O’Shea tells Dartfreakz.nl. The first place has even more cachet, because Hendriks switched to the MariFlex-team less than a month ago. “It is great to win your second tournament. Absolutely great!”, the young Dutchman added.
“In the First round we were a bit lucky”, O’Shea reviews. “We played not good at all, but our opponents did not either. After that we played excellently and deserved every game we won. We beat a couple of very good teams.” Hendriks: “When one of us threw a bit worse, the other just went over it. We took all the opportunities we got. In the finals we played very well.”

Was this succes expected? “You can never expect it of course”, Hendriks answers. “But have been in shape lately and if you are throwing with such a world-class ace, you are always a likely winner. I learn a lot from him. For example, he tells me when to take my time and peace.” “I know him since he was eight”, O’Shea continues. “We then already saw he has a big future ahead of him. Hopefully he will keep improving in the coming years. This title will at least give him a lot of confidence.” Next weekend at the MariFlex Open, O’Shea couples with his old partner Fitton. “Hopefully we will be as succesfull as last weekend with Jimmy.” Hendriks will form a tandem with Mike Zuydwijk. He comes to Vlaardingen open-minded. “I do not expect anything, but will do my best to win of course.”

<![CDATA[MariFlex-players look back at and ahead to the MariFlex Open]]> urn:uuid:dbc742a4-7e13-0f70-4f87-a7084d36a35d 2012-03-14 13:49:40 Last weekend the Isle of Man became a big succes for the Dutch competitors who set out for the island in the Irish sea. Jeffrey de Graag and Francis Hoenselaar got to claim the titles in the singles tournament and the couples tournament was won by MariFlex-players Jimmy Hendriks and Tony O’Shea. But there was more Dutch success to which the players of the MariFlex Pro Darts Team had a big contribution.

Jan Dekker became the runner-up and Joey ten Berge got a good third place. Willy van de Wiel also got to the quarterfinals, with which the MariFlex Pro Darts Team showed themselves from their good side again. Next to that, Wesley Harms got a third place as well and Benito van de Pas got himself a place in the quarterfinals too.

Dartfreakz.nl talked to Joey ten Berge, Jan Dekker and Willy van die Wiel to look back at the succes of last weekend and to look ahead to the MariFlex Open of next weekend.

How did you experience the strong performances of the Dutch at the Isle of Man?
Joey:”It was very nice that there were 6 Dutch players in the final 8 and that shows that darts in the Netherlands is becoming better.”
Jan:”It was indeed good to have 6 Dutch players in the final 8.. We sold our lives dearly.”
Willy:”It was a great experience to have as many as 6 Dutch players in the final 8. What else can we want. It is a good thing for the sport in the Netherlands.

Which player has impressed you the most during the Isle of Man?
Joey:
”Jeffrey de Graaf has impressed me the most, because he has thrown really, really well. Benito van de Pas was playing really well too. That made that the toughest game of the weekend.”
Willy:”My best moment of last weekend was the victory on Ross Montgomery. That was for a place in the quarterfinals and I threw a 126-finish in it.

The next tournament scheduled is of course the MariFlex Open.. How do you look forward to this, as MariFlex Pro Darts Team-players?
Jan:
”I get to defend my title. I hope that you did not miss out on that last year, haha. I am just going to go for it, just like every other time.”
Joey:”The MariFlex Open does not put more pressure on me than any other tournament. To me it is just another tournament to gain some points and the fact that my sponsor organizes it is only good.”
Willy:”It puts a bit more pressure on me. You want to perform at your sponsor’s tournament. But I think it is going to be just fine, with a football game and a lot of laughter around it. I am at least very excited about it.”

Next weekend the MariFlex Open will be played and Dartfreakz.nl will be attending it live.

<![CDATA[Slim Tony O’Shea: “I feel much better now”]]> urn:uuid:4c44e900-ed18-2768-ad9d-f24911e63a4d 2012-02-24 12:25:41 It is only february, but Tony O’Shea has been accurate in 2012. The 50 years old Englishman was stopped by Christian Kist only in the finals of Lakeside and was crowned winner of the Dutch Open at the beginning of this month. “I am glad with the way I play at the moment. I could not wish for a better start actually”, says the ready to laugh Silverback to Dartfreakz.nl. But this year he wants to be successful mostly beside the oche.

“I want to live healthier from now on and be more fit”, the player from Stockpot continues. “Hopefully that will help me to become the world champion. It is only February, but I am already thinking of Lakeside in 2013. Winning that tournament once has always been my goal.”

“I have watched the footage of the last Lakeside finals and I noticed I was sweating more than ever and my face was red. It didn’t look healthy”, O’Shea realizes. “That is why I have decided to change a couple of things. From now on I am going to visit the gym regularly. I haven’t touched one beer after Lakeside as well. It is time to watch my health, because I am getting old, haha. Next to that I use the practice board more often. I want to lose some weight. After Lakeside I have lost one Stone. That is not a lot, but I feel a lot better.”

The story of O’Shea reminds us of that of Phil Taylor, who decided to change his lifestyle drastically a couple of years ago as well. “I won’t lose that much weight, though. I think he lost a bit too much, haha”, the double vice-world champion adds. Indeed, the monastic life The Power made himself live did not turn into positive results at First. On the contrary. O’Shea: “But now he has gotten used to the balance and he plays better than ever.”

O’Shea is happy with the start of his season. “Even though I look at it more as a continuation of 2011. I finished that year well, with the victory at the Open Northern-Ireland in November. I always wanted to win the Dutch Open. In my opinion that tournament is a lot harder to win than Lakeside. Not only because there are over three-thousand players competing, but mainly because the playing level is very high. Players who you have never heard of, beat everyone. So I am very happy with the title.” This weekend O’Shea will compete in the Open Scotland, which he won in 2009. “I love playing in Scotland and I feel good. I can’t wait.”

The World Cup winner of 2009 has a busy period ahead, because next weekend he will represent England at the Six Nations Cup, in his own country. “I love playing for my country. That has just as much value to me as becoming the world champion. Soon I will have played more international matches than John Lowe and Eric Bristow and that means a lot to me.”
Is playing for England a motive to not go to the PDC? “That is indeed an important reason”, O’Shea replies. “But MariFlex has been my Dutch sponsor for six years now. Ruud (Cogels, van MariFlex, red.) is a good friend and very important to me. He has plans within the BDO. So I would like to stay here with him. Loyalty is very important I think. Hopefully our cooperation will last for years.”

His good friend Adrian Lewis recently adviced him to come over to the PDC. “A lot more money can be earned there, that is correct”, O’Shea nods. “But money is not everything to me. I want to help to get the BDO back on its feet, because lately things haven’t been that well.” Since half a year that organization has a new management. O’Shea: “Not a lot has changed, though. But when they took it over, they said it would take time. We, the players, understand that.”

But O’Shea isn’t happy about certain things. “Not long ago I heard that the Open Antwerpen, at the end of April, has been cancelled. They are going to find a new date, but our agendas are almost full for this year. So it could easily clash with something else. That pisses us off. I have already missed out on several tournaments last year, because they had been moved. I had already planned demos on the new dates. That is not pleasant, because it is still our job. In the case of the Open Antwerpen we had already planned demos in the Netherlands the Friday before the event. Next to that the boat and everything else has already been booked. So this does not really help. Look, at the PDC they have one calendar a year and that stays as it is. The problems are probably caused by the Belgian Darts federation this time, but it is still a part of the BDO circuit. They will have to improve that.”

But the main focus of the new BDO management is, according to him, getting media attention for the tournaments in the next couple of years. After 2013 the contract with the BBC comes to an end and with the cutbacks at the Brittish broadcasting company it is not unthinkable that the contract will not be extended. And therefore Lakeside might not be shown on the television anymore. O’Shea: “ESPN has a lot of interest, but nothing has been signed yet. Without the attention through the telivision the BDO is not interesting to sponsors and a lot of players will go to the PDC. It is up to the new management of the BDO to accommodate the footage somewhere else. The next year and a half will be very important.”

Dartfreakz.nl will be the media partner of the company which is a well-known name in the darts world, because of the MariFlex Open and the sponsoring of some of world’s best players like Jan Dekker, Joey ten Berge, Willy van de Wiel, Darryl Fitton, Tony O’Shea and they just started sponsoring youth world champion Jimmy Hendriks. The MariFlex is also one of the largest sponsors of the Zuiderduin Masters with establishments in the Netherlands, the US, Singapore and South-Korea.

Ruud Cogels, managing director of the MariFlex Group on the long-term deal: “Dartfreakz.nl is one of the most authorative darts news website of the Netherlands. We want to give the darts world an extra impulse together with Dartfreakz.nl. Dartfreakz.nl is the most stable darts news website of the last couple of years and we have a lot of faith in the team of Dartfreakz.nl” Bas van den Berk, owner of Dartfreakz.nl on the contract with Mariflex: “The Netherlands is in a recession, due to which it is tough to find advertisers. That is why we are more than proud that MariFlex wants to take a chance with us as primary media partner. This way we can mean a lot to the events and the players of MariFlex”.

The MariFlex group is active worldwide transhipping fluids. This can be loading and unloading ships, but also draining stranded ships. With specialists and their own production line, MariFlex is capable of making a pump for every job. For more information we like to refer to www.MariFlex.net

<![CDATA[World champion Jimmy Hendriks from Dartstars to MariFlex]]> urn:uuid:59b39525-e5f4-07df-e7c6-ce2152e20925 2012-02-08 22:26:15 The reigning world champion youth, Jimmy Hendriks, is going to switch from Team Dartstars to the MariFlex Pro Darts Team in two weeks, immediately after the Scottish Open. That has been decided during the Dutch Open last weekend, after some thought with Dartstars-manager Michiel Albers and Mariflex-foreman Ruud Cogels.

Hendrisk is satisfied with his transfer to Mariflex, where he will be a teammate of Joey ten Berge, Jan Dekker, Willy van de Wiel, Tony O’Shea and Darryl Fitton. “I can learn a lot from Joey, Willy, Jan, Tony and Darryl and I am therefore looking forward to joining the MariFlex Pro Darts Team. Also I want to thank Michiel, Freek and Mark a lot for the great time at Team Dartstars”, according to the guy North Holland.
Mariflex is very happy with the adding of this youthful talent who was honoured last weekend for his performances of last year. In 2011 he not only won the World Cup and the European Championship, but amongst others the Winmau World Masters and the Zuidenduin Masters as well.

Tony O’Shea and Julie Gore won the single-events of the world’s largest darts tournament in Veldhoven on Sunday. For O’Shea that is extra icing on the cake. Friday the Englishmen won the pairs-tournament together with Darryl Fitton.

O’Shea was too good for Dave Prins in the finals. Silverback, who lost the Lakeside finals from Christian Kist last month, had little to fear from his fellow-Englishman. In the best-of-5-sets he only had to give away 2 legs (3-0, 3-2, 3-0). In the semi-finals, Prins was with 2-0 too strong for Willy van de Wiel, the best Dutchman in the tournament

On their way to the finals the English defeated pairs including Harvey and Dawson, Huybrechts and Nagels, Glandfor and Hurrel and Van Gillet and Stafford. In the end we got a spectacular final match from both sides; the opponents Kenny Neyen and Dimitri van den Bergh from Belgium played fantastic all day. The 16 and 17 year old Belgians won the first set with 3-2 and showed their best game. The English Fitton and O’Shea however, are epereinced enough to not let that bring them down and they won the two following sets, both with 3-0 with experience. With 2-1 in sets, the title of the Dutch Open Men pairs tournament went to the English duo and the great runner-up position went to Kenny Neyens and Dimitri van den Bergh.

O’Shea and Fitton never succeeded in winning the Dutch Open for pairs before. In 2009 The Dazzler won the Dutch Open for singles, at the cost of Willy van de Wiel.

<![CDATA[MariFlex says goodbye to Yorkshire man Dean Winstanley]]> urn:uuid:40965499-dd95-e17e-c7ae-9aab96388293 2012-01-25 12:05:00 Without a shadow of doubt the world of darts will have noted the “sudden death” of the BDO career of MariFlex Team Player Dean ‘Over the Top’ Winstanley, when he decided to make his move to the PDC. Right after his disappointing appearance in the BDO world championships, he wrote up for Q-school to try to get his darts in the tight Pro-tour field.

Winstanley is a talented player, so it came as no surprise for his sponsor MariFlex, that he won his matches and qualified. What did come as a Thunderstrike in a clear sky, was the fact that Dean never informed his sponsor of his whereabouts and plans.

MariFlex was thus confronted with a so called ‘fait accompli’ and editor can tell you they were not amused. Not because of the fact the MariFlex player decided to go PDC, but merely for his apparent lack of communication.

Dean was taken into the MariFlex Team in February last year, after his successful debut at the Lakeside. His teammates being Tony O’Shea, Darryl Fitton from England and Joey ten Berge, Willy van de Wiel and Jan Dekker from Holland. With the team complete and balanced MariFlex set out for major tournaments whilst supporting a talented Anglo-Dutch group.

Life is not without disappointments, thus no use crying over spilt milk, MariFlex wishes Dean a lot of ‘Erfolg’ in the Pro-Tour. He did with his one-sided actions, however lose his place in the team and a beneficial sponsor contract in the process. So whether he made the right choice yet remains to be seen.

MariFlex mainsponsor of the WDF-BDO and Zuiderduin Masters classified international MariFlex Open Darts tournament, wishes to declare that it will remain loyal to the WDF-BDO circuit and will there for not support players outside this circuit. As a result MariFlex has decided with immediate effect to sever all ties with Dean Winstanley.

<![CDATA['One hand Joey'qualifies for Lakeside 2012]]> urn:uuid:fd197dc5-26e4-04cd-38a6-bc15efd8e2f5 2011-09-02 21:36:33 Joey ten Berge just qualified for the Lakeside World Pro 2012. He was one of the finalists of the special tournament played today in Hull. One day before departure to Hull Joey broke his left hand. But this would be a good sign said MariFlex director Ruud Cogels

No luck for Joey during the Winmau World Masters, the tournament played simultaneously because Joey was knock out in this tournament after a few games. Today In a field of 131 participants it turned out to be so because Joey became one of the two best players.

In the decisive phase of the tournament, when the pressure increases, the player from The Hague was on his best and even did not lose a single set. Joey already was doing well the recent weeks. He won a torunament in America and finished high in the Swedish Open. With these points he landed on the right side of the cut off line for Lakeside.

But now he knows for sure, he will be back on the biggest stage in world darts . Another Dutchman, Christian Kist also won a wildcard and so the total of Dutch players on Lakeside 2012 now is 5

<![CDATA[Is the broken hand a good sign for Joey?]]> urn:uuid:dea8b6b0-8df8-f086-2b0f-5444426d7adf 2011-08-30 19:59:49 Since last Sunday MariFlex Dart Team player Joey ten Berge walks around with a broken hand. A few broken metacarpal bones, due to a game of soccer with his local team.

During the match someone stepped on his left hand after he had fallen. "That's when you do things you should not do," was Joey's comment in a phonecall to inform to his condition.

The recovery takes about 4 to 6 weeks and the injury happened at a very unlucky moment. Not that at another time it will be fine, ofcourse not. But now, with the Winmau World Masters to begin (At time of writing, Joey is boarding in Europoort for depature to Hull ). And then a few days later, the WDF World Cup is on and at the end of the month another major tournament in England.

Or is it an sign? Because, in 1978, René van de Kerkhof, also broke his hand. At the FIFA World Championships in Argentina in the first match of the Netherlands playing against Iran. Finally the Dutch national football team played the final against Argentina but it happened eventually Netherlands played the final.

Do you remember that match? All the commotion round the plaster cuff René wore and all the Argentine players complained about that even before the finals started. René van de Kerkhof, is a close friend of MariFlex director Ruud Cogels and MariFlex Darts Team player Tony O'Shea. MariFlex is also shirt sponsor of Sparta and so outside darts deeply involved in football. That's why this link was quickly made.

Let them, at the start of the Winmau World Masters and or WDF World Cup final, start to complain about Joey's blue casted hand as much as they want. Then we know it was a good sign and plays Joey the final.

<![CDATA[Willy van de Wiel travels to Hull with Lakeside ticket]]> urn:uuid:1f7f6900-ed95-4043-4c44-b535cd72c577 2011-08-29 21:01:23 Starting tomorrow, the group of Dutch participants for the Winmau travels down to Hull, England. Among all these players also MariFlex Team Darts player Willy van de Wiel who just before his departure received a nice message.

The Dutch Darts Association (NDB) received a message of the BDO with this confirmation. Based on the ranking positions of Willy and also Wesley Harms the BDO is sure these two playerswill be invited to participate in the Lakeside World Pro 2012.

Wesley is at place 10 of the BDO rankings and Willyat the eleventh spot. With these data a calculation was made by the BDO with the result that all what happened the next few weeks these two players will not fall outside the top 20 of the rankings. And for the top 20 (after the cut off day) i is guaranteed to receive an invitation.

MariFlex Team Darts players Dean Winstanley and Jan Dekker early this year already knew they would return to Frimley Green. Dean asthe runner up of Lakeside 2011 and Jan because he was losing semi-finalist.

Tony O'Shea and Darryl Fitton currently sixth and 14th are on the right side of the line. Joey ten Berge, the last week working hard on his rise in the ranking saw all his extra workl rewarded with a 19th place.

For Joey it will be better he can to steal some points so heren and there to be sure of a place at the Lakeside 2012 stage.

<![CDATA[Men's pair title Hemeco Open 2011 for Jan Dekker and Ron Meulenkamp]]> urn:uuid:cf52281f-72a7-3ea5-ad51-2e2c3116c051 2011-08-28 23:47:02 This weekend, in de Kentering Rosmalen, the Hemeco Open 2011 was played. For this tournament the organization always invite a large number of top players to participate. Among these group of players some of the players of the MariFlex Darts Team.

So darts fans enjoyed this weekend darts performances of Tony O'Shea, Darryl Fitton, Joey ten Berge, Willy van de Wiel and Jan Dekker. And for Jan again it was another successful weekend. Jan on Saturday at the singles event played the semi finales where unfortunately he lost to Kim Huybrechts from Belgium.

But the next Jan together with his mate Ron Meulenkamp played the final of the men's pairs tournament. In the finals they had to compete against Joppe Bakens and Dirk van Duijvenbode. Two young, but very talented players who made quite difficult to Jan and Ron. In the seventh and decisive leg the two internationals knew to take the lead and obtain the last point for the match and the title.

For Willy van de Wiel, the tournament was not good. On Saturday he lost after a few rounds of the tournament. Darryl Fitton lost 4-2 to Alan Norris in the last 16 and Tony O'Shea in the quarterfinals of his team-mate Jan Dekker. (1-4)

Darryl and Tony played better on Sunday in the pairs tournament. They played the semi finals where they lost in the decisive leg of Bakens / Duijvenbode (3-4)

Joey ten Berge came into the round for a place in the last 16. Scott Mitchell was there this time a bit too big for Joey (2-4)

The entire team will this weekend compete in the Winmau World Masters, the tournament where only the best players of the world are invited to participate.

Winner of the Hemeco Open 2011 men singlestournament was Phil Taylor, the women's singles title went to Russia's Anastasia Dobromyslova. Trina Gulliver, last year's winner of the women's singles tournament now lost in the quarterfinals. But Saturday along with her partner Sue Gulliver she won the ladies pairs tournament.

Today, the day after the Swedish Open, the BDO has released the names of the eight seeded players for the upcoming Winmau World Masters. The Swedish Open was the last tournament for the Winmau rankings for this Year.

Both the number 1 on the BDO rankings , MariFlex DartsTeam player Dean Winstanley, as number two, Martin Adams did not enter this event, so their mutual differences did not change.

But the criteria for seeding according to the BDO rankings says that only the 10 best tournaments of each player makes the total, even if a player has played more then 10 events. And with a first place at the Winmau 2010 and Lakeside 2011 Martin Adams made a difference of two points with Dean and so was seeded first.

The number 6 on the BDO rankings, MariFlex Darts Team player from the first day off, Tony O'Shea fell back to place 10 for the Winmau seeding by this calculation formula. He therefore has play the whole elimination race to reach stage finals of the last 16

The list of seeded players for the Winmau is as follows::

pos naam speler land
1 Martin Adams Eng
2 Dean Winstanley Eng
3 Robbie Green Eng
4 Scott Waites Eng
5 Gary Robson Eng
6 Ross Montgomery Schotl

8 John Walton Eng

Also for the women's tournament there are eight seeded players. Only here the seeding is used for the knock out bracket. A bad day for Dutch darts and the only "Queen of Dutch Darts", as Francisca Hoenselaar had to withdraw for the Winmau for personal reasons. Karin Krappen had a small profit because of this she moved up as the 8th seed of the ladies rankings for the Winmau. The seeding list for the ladies is:

2 Julie Gore Wales
3 Trina Gulliver Eng
4 Irina Armstrong Rus

And not without success! All four players reached the quarterfinals of the men's singles tournament on Saturday, August the 20th.

In that round, the number halved. Willy van de Wiel lost from Scott Waites, and in a team battle Darryl Fitton was beaten by Joey ten Berge. In the next round Joey lost and again at a meeting of two team members. Joey's opponent in the semifinals, Tony O'Shea, took revenge for 'his mate' the Dazzler and knocked out Joey 5-3.

Unfortunately 'Silverback" O'Shea could not put a crown on the actions of the MariFlex team. In the final against Scotty2hotty, Scott Waites, he lost the game 6-4.

All in all an excellent performance by the team that gattered the necessary points for Lakeside credited to their account. Certainly for Joey, currently doing everything what is in its power to qualify for this tournament is was a great weekend.

Irina Armstrong won the ladies tournament. Irina knew to stop the range of victories of Deta Hedman and won in the decisive leg of the final the Swedish Open title.

<![CDATA[Willy van de Wiel not available Dutch national team for a while]]> urn:uuid:a82ac5ee-dd21-a4a0-7fed-05c89d759043 2011-08-18 23:51:34 The Dutch Darts Association send out a press release concerning MariFlex Darts Team players, Willy van de Wiel. In this message the report of a meeting with Willy and the NDB of Willy's inquiry to the NDB he temporarily is not available for the Dutch national team.

Based on this discussion, the following press release is made

Willy van de Wiel (29) from Rijen the Netherlands has informed us he temporarily is not available for the Dutch team. Reasons for this are personal and lack of time to give himself for 100% for the team.

Willy still will play active darts and at the moment is based on the 18th place in the world ranking of the WDF, the 11th place in the BDO rankings (Lakeside) and as fourth seeded in the Zuiderduin Masters played from 9 till 11 December in hotel Zuiderduin (Egmond aan Zee).

Willy started his career in the Dutch selection in season 2008-2009 season and from this moment on a great value for the Dutch National Team. He showed the world his skills during several World Cups and European Championships and other events. In 2009 Willy became World Champion with the Dutch team in America, in 2010 Willy won the silver medal with the Dutch team in Turkey and was runner-up in the singles tournament.

In consultation with the NDB Willy has to step out of the national selection but obviously he is welcome back soon his situation changed.

<![CDATA[Joey ten Berge hunting for a Lakeside invitation]]> urn:uuid:4cba7646-5766-20dd-acd4-135b89f71959 2011-08-17 17:27:19 Calculate your chances to obtain the needed extra score points for the BDO rankings. Joey ten Berge has done this and so last weekend he went to Stamford USA to participate in the USA Darts Classic.

A WDF / BDO ranked tournament with 18 valuable points waiting for the winner of this event. Joey won the USA Darts Classic. In the final of this tournament he knocked out American, Steve Panucialman. So Joey added 18 points to his total of 109 and now has a total of 127 points.

With these points he moved up from place 30 up to position 26 in the rankings just one point over Ron Meulenkamp who dropped to 27th place.

On the bottom line for selection and is still not entirely sure to receive a invitation for the Lakeside stage. The cut off date for the Lakeside is on October the10th and till then a number of tournaments have to be played. Next, the Winmau World Masters than the New South Wales Masters in Australia then the British Open.

Joey can make a profit at the WDF World Cup. Here, only the national teams participate ( 4 men in a team) and with
a good results in the single event he can move up some places on the BDO rankings

After the World Cup the England Classic is on, next The French Open, and finally the Klondike Open and Romania Open. For Joey's direct competitors for a Lakeside invitation there are still plenty of opportunities and MariFlex Darts Team player Joey knows he has to be there as well.

R. Cogels of MariFlex and Willy. Sport is emotion and sometimes lead to situations no one is aiming for.

That is why, a few weeks ago, Willy van de Wiel lost his MariFlex sponsorship and was no longer a member of the MariFlex Darts team. However Willy, as well during as after the event, had no idea he showed bad behavior.

He was left with a lot of unanswered question and was pleased with the invitation for a meeting where he good make his statement. Reconsidering the situation and the fact that all must take lessons of this MariFlex decided to withdraw all the sanctions and let Will join the MariFlex Darts Team again.

A big relief for Willy currently the highest ranked Dutch player in the BDO-WDF world ranking. He now can go on working on his inclusion for the Lakeside and Zuiderduin Masters. Tournament in which only the best players in the world can participate.

After his great victory last week at the MariFlex Open Jan won on Sunday, March the 27th , the third NDB ranking tournament in Nijmegen. This is the third ranking win in a row for Jan and is the strong leader of this years NDB rankings.

Jan played in the finals against Benito van de Pas. A newcomer to the men's circuit but a player to remember for the future. JJan Dekker was superior in the final over best of 7 legs and gave a white wash to Benito.

The title of the women tournament went to Francisca Hoenselaar. Her first title in the NDB rankings of this year. Her opponent in the final, Karin Krappen was for the third consecutive time in a NDB ranking final. The first time she won, the second time she lost the final and also in Nijmegen she had to acknowledge the superiority of Francisca. Hoenselaar won 4-1.

Angelique won 3-1 in the final and won the semi final of Annet van Elten 3-0

Jeffrey de Zwaan and Jimmy Hendriks played the junior final. And Jeffrey was in form so Jimmy found out. Jimmy just could win one leg to 4 four for Jeffrey.

<![CDATA[Mr. Coat, Jan Dekker, dressed ]]> urn:uuid:dc4712c3-3613-e597-4176-16f224fcd915 2011-03-21 23:03:23 The men's final of the 5th Open was won by MariFlex Darts Team member Jan Dekker from Klijndijk, Drenthe.

In the final, defeated the new star of darts darts former Winmau World Master Tony West with 3-1 in sets.

A beautiful and exciting final at the end of a successful fifth edition of this international tournament which will count towards the rankings with the BDO WDF Zuiderduin Masters.

Jan won the first set 3-1 but had more opposition of Triple Tornado, Tony West in the second set. All five legs were needed and the decisive leg was won by Jan Dekker. In the third set, because of the body language of Tony you get the idea that he did not beleive in a victory anymore and gave up the courage. Therefore Jan won the first leg by a wide but in the second Tony came back strongly and won 3 legs in a row for his first set win.

In the fourth set we just got the feeling that the party might be played over the full
length, because Tony had found the board in the fourth set which was very attractive to watch. West was able to come back to 2-2 and was looking for a break in the fifth. Jan Dekker opened with two strong throws that made the difference in the fifth and deciding leg and with a 78 and finish with two darts Jan Dekker won his first MariFlex Open title.

Besides a large number of ranking points, a check of € 2,500 Jan receive the extra price, he may play in the Zuiderduin Masters is held in December this year.

This bonus was also for Russia's Anastasia Dobromyslova. Anastasia was in the ladies finale one size too large for the English Lorraine Farlam. Anastasia, earlier this year returned in the WDF / BDO circuit won in a best of 3 sets two sets with a 3-1 score.

Lorraine threw not bad but did not use the opportunities given by Anastasia. She had trouble finding the double and then you are second against a cool Russian player. The ladies champion received a check of € 1.200, =

Before the seniors finals two youth finals where played. Before the boys final the two finalists, John Kruijf and Mike Zuydwijk heard that the winner of the boys finals also wil start in the Zuiderduin Masters International Youth tournament.

Mike Zuydwijk was very pleased to receive this bonus at the end of the tournament at the awards John only was able to finish one leg, five he had to give to Mike. With large numbers (5-1) Mike won this final and see him in December on the big stage in Egmond aan Zee.

Two very evenly matched young ladies, Marilou Daamen and Annet van Elten were facing each again in a final. Both girls have played quite a few finals against each other and know each other very well. But today no honor was to get to Marilou. Annette was in form had no mercy with her rival and gave her a white wash. With a 4-0 victory Annet van Elten won the MariFlex Open title for girls and received a as an extra prize a ticket for playing the Winmau World Masters, played somewhere in the autumn in England.

The other winners in the singles today also are allowed to play the Winmau World Masters.

Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship Frimley Green England; the 4th of januari 2011

Place in quarter final gave extra bonus for Jan Dekker!

Tonight the 20 Year old Jan Dekker from the Netherlands had to celebrate two parties. The young darts player from Klijndijk in the province Drenthe had a sensational victory over Englishman, Stuart Kellett and so reached the quarter finals of the lakeside World Pro.

So far there was nobody ever had believed in this success. Jan entered the Lakeside World Pro as a qualifier, and based on the history no one ever believed Jan could do so. However Jan had the possibility to catch up some routine on stages of this kind while he was introduced as a wildcard player on the World stage of the only top darts event in the Netherlands, the Zuiderduin Masters.

For his excellent performance at the Winmau World Masters in October last year and his qualification for the Lakeside he received a wildcard for the Zuiderduin Masters of the promoters of this event.

This worked perfectly than Jan beat Scott Mitchell in the first round and to night send of the number two seed of this Lakeside World Championship, Stuart Kellett. A good reason for one of the managing directors of MariFlex Group of Companies from Vlaardingen, the Netherlands, Ruud Cogels, also sponsor of the MariFlex Darts Team, with Tony O´Shea, Darryl Fitton, Willy van de Wiel to add Jan Dekker as the fifth player in this team.

At the moment Jan still Jan has some obligations to another sponsor. This is well respected by MariFlex and there for this contract will start the day after the Lakeside is over (the 10th of January 201) From this day on Jan can enter any event in the world where he can achieve ranking points for the lakeside and Zuiderduin Masters and do not have to worry about the costs.

On the picture you see in the middle a very happy Jan Dekker supported by his new team members Willy van de Wiel (left side) and Joey ten Berge ( right side) behind the three darts players a Ruud Cogels very pleased to have Jan Dekker, the young talented player in his MariFlex Darts Team

afternoon after a really exciting finale against rookie Zuiderduin Masters on stage, Robbie Green from England.

Green was contrary to expectations, the final domestic
by Martin Adams in the semifinals to beat.
Montgomery went after the semi-final against Tony O'Shea on. O'Shea had a whirlwind start but "the Boss" Montgomery was despite the frequent lack of doubles winning the game close.

Also this toenooi MariFlex is very involved as a sponsor.
